After watching the video in class about the dance floor with sensors underneath that can generate energy with the movement of the dancers, I got a pretty good idea for what we could add to the u of m. When i saw people on treadmills at the gym, it instantly reminded me of my hamster on his wheel. Then I thought “we should put sensors on the treadmills”. People are constantly running on the treadmills or bikes at the gym, why not take that energy and power the gym with it, with all those machines being used during the course of the day, i’m sure we could conserve a fair amount of energy. Also, if anybody wants any blogging ideas about green design or alternative energy or technology, check out http://zaproot.com and watch all the videos. In my house we do a lot of laundry so I was pretty intrigued by the water saving clothe washer by Xeros ltd which cuts water consumption by 98%, that’s just 1 cup per load by having little plastic beads that agitate the clothe and absorb the dirt, just imagine how much money you could save in a year.
